Cr Carmelo Pesce, Sutherland Shire Mayor.

At a Council meeting on Monday 21 March a report on Tourism Opportunities in the Shire was endorsed. This report was prepared by an independent consultant and looked at a wide range of opportunities across the Shire.

One of thirty-seven opportunities identified in the report is the potential for an eco lodge in Bundeena. I would like to stress that whilst the report was endorsed by Council, this does not have any bearing on the current proceedings between Council and the Spring Gully Eco Tourism proposal at the Land & Environment Court.

To clarify the current situation, Council refused the initial Spring Gully proposal. The applicants have since made some changes to their proposal and this is being reviewed by Council Staff. The matter will return to the Land & Environment Court at a date yet to be set.

I have met with a number of members of the Bundeena community about this proposal. My door is always open to discuss important matters like this.
